Countdown to launch!

May 20, 2010

A wee peek at her finished paintwork – and her silver coin bang on the ‘hinny spot’!

This Saturday, 22nd May is the day. Old Dornie harbour, Achiltibuie, is the place – and at 3.30 or so, with a bit of west coast time added in of course, she will be in the water!

She’ll be piped down the slip – bagpipes that is, for our non- UK blog-watchers-  and four rowers and a cox, none of whom have ever put an oar to kabe or faastiband before, will do their best to step up to the mark and row the ‘Lass’ away from the slip in good style.

Once she is in the water folk will have a chance to try the boat – a safety boat will be at the ready!

If weather permits, the barbie will be going. No doubt a wee dram or two will be taken.

Ice cream for the kids, some burgers, buns, relish there but bring something to put on.

Everyone  most welcome to be there to see a wee bit of Coigach history!

She looks great, wish I could be there for the launch, and have a bit of barb and dram, but I’ll raise a glass to ye nonetheless, well done!

Congratulations to all of the Coigach Lass team on yesterday’s launch. It was a triumph. She is a great credit to Ali and Ron and the other builders, and I think Lesley has done a magnificent job getting the whole community involved in her.

Yesterday was such a lovely day for a row, and it’s really impressive how many people tried the Lass out. I hope lots of them become regular rowers.

We in Ulla’s crew had a great time, and learnt a lot about oars and rowing geometry. We have gone home to tweak our oars and hope to beat you next time!

    Cheers, Topher.
